For Christmas 2019 we’re gifted a clutter-free gift that could create joy, memories together and learning opportunities. That gift was a membership to Cheekwood and we’re so thankful! Cheekwood truly has something for everyone from captivating artwork, beautiful gardens, fun for tots, and so much more to explore.
Tuesday for Tots returned with fun all around. Even though the weather was gloomy the children bloomed with happiness as they explored Tu B’Shevat. Today was a special program as we all celebrated trees and a new year of nature! The Cheekwood staff had many fun stations for the tots to learn and be creative.
- Create A TuB’Shevat Tree
- Make A Cherrio Birdfeeder
- Contribute To The Community Tree
- Decorate and Take Home A Parsley Plant
- Story Time (fitting for the Tu B’Shevat theme)
Juliette enjoyed decorating her potted plant holder. She had some help from Mommy and Daddy with her design. She’s a fast learner and was planting her Parsley seeds in no time.

Next we moved to the Contribute To The Community Tree station. When Juliette saw crayons her heart melted with love! Our little tot loves herself some crayons. We all traced our hands and added them to the tree.

Juliette made new friends and walked around the room waving and then reverting back into her shy self when someone says hello to her. When it was time to go she did not want to leave she had so much fun. We told her the fun was not ending and I signed to her that she could still walk around before getting in her stroller.
We made our way up the hill to the Mansion to see the exhibits. Once inside we explored the 2020 Martin Shallenberger Artist-in-Residence Hiroshi Sato and Orchids in the Mansion. Here’s some information about the two from Cheekwood’s website. (Hiroshi Sato focused on contemporary realist oil painting. He is best known for paintings of figures in an interior environment. The Orchids in the Mansion features a stylized interpretation of a classical orangery and occupies the historic loggia with large palms, tropical foliage and an array of colorful orchids.) We had such a great family outing today. When we got home, Juliette and I fell asleep for hours lol. Wow! I did not know that cheekwood offered all of these things. This was an awesome family gift. I saw people talking about gifting experiences instead of things and you all are the first people I’ve actually seen experiencing it. Glad Yal had a good time. Excited to see what y’all do next. Also Juliette is THE CUTEST!! Thanks for sharing her with us. ♥️
Thank you for reading! Yes, it was a wonderful gift that we’re very excited about. Juliette has so many toys already, whew! Thanks again and you’re welcome. We want people to see that children no matter their age can have fun too!
