Christmas Activities Guide At Gaylord Opryland

There’s nothing like Christmas at Gaylord Opryland! It’s the 40th year of their Annual A Country Christmas and you don’t want to miss it! There’s over 5 million Christmas lights throughout the resort. Gaylord Opryland experience ICE! featuring The Polar Express, gingerbread decorating, ice tubing, ice skating, bumper cars, musical shows and so much more! It’s the perfect place for a family holiday escapade or staycation if you’re a local.

Throughout the resort, you will find many fun activities and photo opportunities all around. Here are some of the things that we did that I think you’ll enjoy during your visit to Gaylord Opryland.

ICE! The Polar Express™

All aboard! Brace yourselves for a magical journey through larger-than-life, immersive scenes from the iconic classic ‘‘The Polar Express™’. Over 40 world-renowned master artisans came together over 6-weeks to hand carve approximately 6,000 blocks of ice to create this one-of-a-kind Christmas treasure!

Tip: Bring your hat, gloves and dress warmly. Once inside ICE! its 9 degrees so you’ll want to be prepared to have the best time. Here’s some of the immersive scenes.

Ice Skating

Trade in your shoes for a pair of ice skates! Enjoy the frosty day or evening under the stars by taking a winter wonderland glide on the 9,000-square-foot outdoor skating rink made with real ice.

Mrs. Claus’ Christmas Traditions

We spent time with the jolliest hostess of all for a fun-filled celebration of her favorite Christmas traditions. She read the Christmas classic, “Twas The Night Before Christmas” and we sung holiday songs together. We also got a chance to be official cookie tasters of Santa’s favorite snack – warm, freshly baked Christmas cookies.

Gingerbread Decorating Corner

Head over to the Delta Atrium and get your sweet tooth ready while decorating your gingerbread house and cookies. We had a jolly visit from Nutmeg who admired our creations and gave us cheerful thumbs up! This is the prefect location as it sits next to the soaring Delta Fountain. You’ll see the incredible union of dancing water, music and lights. See the Concierge desk in the Cascades Lobby for the show schedule.

Getting Hungry? Have a meal at Cascades American Cafe

Gaylord Opryland has many dining options from restaurants to on the go eateries. We like dining at Cascades, everyone can easily find something they like. The kids love the activity booklet, its filled with crossword puzzles relating to the resort, games and brain teasers.

Stay The Night With An Atrium View

After the fun and eating you’ll want to stay the night. We had a double queen room with a balcony overlooking the Cascades Atrium. After putting the kids to bed Johnathan and I sat on the balcony and talked for hours. The sounds of the waterfalls are so relaxing you may not want to leave!
