In this house we love chicken wings. At a restaurant we could easily spend $40 on just us two having wings, sides and a drink. We both were fed up spending so much money on wings that sometimes are old before they get to our table. Don’t even get me started on if you complain at a wing spot plus the 20 minute wait for fresh wings.
You would think that we be enough to start cooking them at home. Honestly, it wasn’t until we were visiting our cousin Shan and she offered to cook wings for us. We bucked our eyes and said for real in disbelief. She rarely fries anything lol. She began to break down the cost of wings and how easy it was to cook them yourself and save that money. That’s when we decided no more dining out for chicken wings! Now we eat delicious wings at home for under $15.00 for two adults. Not too shabby!
Here’s my recipe for Lemon Pepper Wings below.
• 20 wings, unthawed
• 2 tablespoons of Virgin Olive Oil (I use Bertolli Brand)
• 2 tablespoons of Creole Seasoning (I use Tony Chachere’s Original)
• 1 small lemon squeezed
• 3 tablespoon lemon pepper seasoning (I use Kroger brand)
• 1 tablespoon of garlic powder (I use McCormick)
• A pinch of sugar
Step 1 Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 Stir olive oil, lemon juice, and seasonings together in a bowl.
Step 3 Pat your thawed wings dry. Fry the chicken wings in hot oil until juices are clear, about 10-13 minutes. Wings need to reach 165 F.
Step 4 Toss wings while hot in the seasoning mixture.
Note: I fry 10 wings at a time. Do not over fill your fryer. If you would like to bake them I suggest preheating the oven to 400 degrees F. Bake for 30 mins on a lightly oiled pan.
