Five Ways How I’m Getting Through This Pandemic and How You Can Too

The Pandemic of Covid-19 has many of us feeling lost and uneasy about knowing what’s next to come. In the beginning of all of this I was driving myself up a wall because I was allowing my fears to get the best of me. Here’s what I decided to do for myself to ease the tension I was causing myself to go through.

1. Stop Worrying!

Stop worrying about other people. Whether it’s family members, friends, or whoever it may be just stop stressing yourself over what you see someone else doing that you may not agree with. If you see them on Facebook posting photos of them kicking it in a large crowd of people and living their best life during Covid or going to the grocery store without a mask on. Don’t let other folks actions wear you down worrying for them. You can only control yourself and that’s who you need to focus on. Choose You!

2. Bake Something!

Bake something you’ve always wanted to try. I baked an Apple Crumb Pie for the first time. Yes it was time consuming, but it was so yummy and satisfying! Many restaurants are giving their recipes away right now so that we can remember them when things get to a place of normalcy. Even the DoubleTree Hotel has given away their cookie recipe! I have all of the ingredients and haven’t had the courage to try it out. I even bought cookie cooling racks. Which brings me to my next tip.

3. Finish A Project!

Finish a project you started working on and never touched again. Did I step on your toes yet? If so, I apologize. I started a project for Juliette’s nursery decor and left it undone for months. It was her name on canvas and I wanted to frame it with wood. I started on this in October 2019. I wanted to get it completed by Christmas. That didn’t happen by that time I had only added her name to the canvas and the wood was purchased in February 2020. It sat in a corner until April. Finally one day, I needed something to take my mind off of things so I finished the project. I’m happy with the way it came out and I still have plenty more things I need to complete like my daughter’s first scrapbook.

4. Take a Hike!

Now listen, hiking in the woods is not my cup of tea. However, I started walking with my family outside in the afternoons. Sometimes we walk twice a day. Walking is a great stress reliever and a heart healthy exercise. Juliette loves being outside which is a plus. She will grab her tiny shoes in a heartbeat just to go outside for some fresh air.

5. Utilize Grocery Pick-Up and Curb Side Services

I never ever thought I would buy my grocery items online allowing someone else to shop for me. However, that’s what it has come to for me and I love it! One thing I love about it is there’s an option to receive a substitution, if your desired item is not in stock. Also, if you’re wondering the meat and produce selections have always been fresh. With using grocery pick up I don’t have to go inside the store and feel pressured to get in and out. I just pull up, call to let them know I’ve arrived, pop my trunk so they can load my groceries, and done! It’s so easy plus, many places have waived the service fee. If you’re not already utilizing this service, now is the time to try it. You can spend your new found time finishing up that project you set to the side.

6. Bonus Tip!

Leave the house! Yes you, I’m talking to you. I was locked my in house 3 months like many of you. The thought of leaving the house gave me the heebie-jeebies. When the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens opened up I went the following week. I wanted to take in nature’s beauty. Doing this really calmed my mind and I felt re-energized. Many places have put in the work to make their businesses safe by having timed entry, online ticketing, hand sanitizing stations and more. Follow the CDC Social Distancing Guidelines and whenever you leave go out bring your mask.

I certainly hope these tips help you get through these tough times. Take care of yourself and thanks for reading!
